Commercial Solutions for Biomass Pretreatment

SüPR•2G demonstration and commercial-scale reactors are designed for companies planning industrial-scale facilities. Components can be configured to meet the requirements of most processing applications that include:

  • Nominal throughputs to 600 OD T/day at 5 lbs/ft3 (22,500 kgs/hr at 80 kg/m3)
  • Retention time from minutes to hours
  • Diameters up to 84 in (2.1 m)
  • Option of pneumatic discharge or slurry discharge
  • Choice of metals, including Alloy 825, Alloy C-276, Monel® 400, 316 St.Stl., Zirconium
  • Nominal installed power up to 700 hp or 522 KW

Main components of the system include:

  • Screw Feeder — Designed for accurate control of the feed to the tube assembly.
  • Variable speed drive permits precise control of input.
  • Feedstock passing through the screw feeder forms a plug that seals against reactor pressure.
  • Facilitates removal of excess moisture and air from feedstock.
  • Split design of components for ease of maintenance and disassembly.

Transition Chamber — Forms an integral part of the inlet to the reactor assembly providing positive protection from blow-backs and prevents loss of steam and catalyst; it also serves as a safety device if the seal in the plug pipe is lost.

Reactor Assembly — Time-controlled continuous conveyor for processing lignocellulosic materials.

  • Variable speed drive moves material at a uniform rate.
  • Multiple reactors can be used in series or parallel to increase residence time and throughput.
  • Can be used for pre-steaming, impregnating or reaction processes.

Discharge System — Designed for uniform and continuous transfer of hydrolyzed material by pneumatic conveying or slurry pumping for further processing.
